Ingredients

  • Ground beef: 1 lb (80/20 blend for best flavor).
  • Salt: 1 teaspoon.
  • Black pepper: 1/2 teaspoon.
  • Garlic powder: 1/2 teaspoon.
  • Worcestershire sauce: 1 tablespoon.
  • Cheese slices: 4 (cheddar, American, or Swiss).
  • Burger buns: 4, toasted.
  • Lettuce: 4 leaves.
  • Tomato: 1, sliced.
  • Red onion: 1/2, thinly sliced.
  • Ketchup and mustard: For serving.

Instructions

  1. Preheat a grill or stovetop pan to medium-high heat.
  2. In a bowl, combine ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix gently.
  3. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape into patties.
  4. Grill the patties for 3–4 minutes per side, or until desired doneness.
  5. During the last minute of cooking, add cheese slices on top and let melt.
  6. Toast the burger buns on the grill for about 30 seconds.
