Ingredients
  

For the Sandwich

  • 4 slices thick-cut bacon cooked until crispy
  • 4 slices white or whole wheat bread toasted
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise or more to taste
  • 2 leaves romaine or iceberg lettuce washed and dried
  • 2 slices tomato ripe and fresh
  • 1/4 tsp salt to season tomatoes
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper freshly ground

Instructions
 

  • Cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy, about 8-10 minutes, flipping occasionally. Drain on paper towels.
  • While the bacon cooks, toast the slices of bread until golden brown and crisp.
  • Spread mayonnaise evenly on one side of each slice of toasted bread.
  • Place fresh lettuce leaves on two slices of the bread.
  • Layer the sliced tomatoes on top of the lettuce, seasoning them with a pinch of salt and black pepper.
  • Add the crispy bacon strips on top of the tomatoes.
  • Top with the remaining slices of bread, mayonnaise side down, and press gently.
  • Slice the sandwiches diagonally and serve immediately with chips or a side salad.

Notes

For an extra twist, add sliced avocado or a fried egg to turn it into a BLT-A or BELT sandwich.
