Ingredients
  

For the Sandwich

  • 2 slices white or sourdough bread thick-cut preferred
  • 2 tbsp butter softened
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese grated (or mix of cheddar and mozzarella)
  • 1 tsp mayonnaise optional, for extra crispiness

Instructions
 

  • Spread softened butter evenly on one side of each bread slice. If using mayonnaise for extra crispiness, spread it on the outer sides instead of butter.
  • Place grated cheese between the unbuttered sides of the bread, creating a sandwich with buttered sides facing outward.
  • Heat a skillet over medium-low heat and place the sandwich in the pan. Cook for 3-4 minutes on one side until golden brown and crispy.
  • Flip the sandwich using a spatula and cook for another 2-3 minutes until the other side is golden brown and the cheese is fully melted.
  • Remove from the skillet, let it sit for 1 minute, then slice diagonally and serve immediately. Enjoy with tomato soup or your favorite dipping sauce!
