  • 1 angel food cake cut into cubes
  • 1 package cream cheese softened (8 oz)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 package vanilla pudding mix (3.4 oz)
  • 1 container whipped topping (8 oz, Cool Whip)
  • 1 can cherry pie filling (21 oz)
  • 1/2 cup sliced almonds optional

Instructions
 

  • Cut the angel food cake into bite-sized cubes and spread half of it evenly in a 9x13-inch dish.

  • In a bowl, beat the cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth. Add vanilla extract and mix again.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the milk and vanilla pudding mix until thickened.

  • Fold the whipped topping into the pudding mixture until fully combined.
  • Pour half of the cream cheese mixture over the first layer of cake cubes.
  • Add the remaining cake cubes on top and spread the rest of the cream mixture evenly.
  • Spoon the cherry pie filling over the top and smooth it out.
  • Refrigerate for at least 4 hours before serving.
  • Garnish with sliced almonds and extra whipped topping before serving.

Chill overnight for the best flavor. You can substitute cherry pie filling with strawberries or blueberries.
