Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Knife
  • Cutting Board
  • Spatula
  • Non-stick Skillet or Panini Press

Ingredients

For the Tuna Salad

  • 1 can tuna drained
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp red onion finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp celery finely chopped
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper freshly ground

For the Sandwich

  • 4 slices sourdough or whole wheat bread
  • 2 tbsp butter softened
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, combine drained tuna, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, red onion, celery, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
  • Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread to ensure a golden, crispy crust.
  • Place two slices of bread butter-side down on a flat surface. Spread the tuna salad evenly on each slice.
  • Top each sandwich with two slices of cheddar cheese, ensuring even coverage for a perfect melt.
  • Place the remaining bread slices on top, buttered side facing outward.
  • Heat a skillet or panini press over medium heat. Cook the sandwiches for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  • Remove from heat and let the sandwiches rest for 1 minute. Slice diagonally and serve immediately.

Notes

For extra flavor, add sliced tomatoes or a dash of hot sauce to the tuna salad. Use Swiss or provolone cheese for a milder taste.
